OF THE WEEK:
CJ’s Auto Sound
By Annette Langenstein, Staff
I spoke with Chuck Miller, who along with his wife Judy, owns CJ’s (as
in Chuck and Judy) Auto Sound. Located at 93644 Thunder Road in Hauser
(about a quarter mile south of the Wagon Wheel store), Chuck wanted to
let people know that he’s been in business since buying the store from
Steve Winkler, who owned and operated it for over 20 years.
Born and raised in North Bend, Chuck has spent most of his time in the
Lakeside and Hauser area. He went to North Bend schools and then spent
a year in Texas, but missed the dunes and everything else about our
beautiful area. Coincidentally, Steve Winkler wanted to move to Texas,
so Chuck bought the business from Steve, and things couldn’t have
worked out better!
CJ’s Auto Sound sells and installs car audio as well as CB radios.
Their sole employee is their installer Ed, who after working for the
Winklers for over 20 years, stayed on after the Millers bought the
business. You’ll find Ed there ready and waiting to install your new
car audio or CB radio from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Friday, and
Saturdays 9 am to 4 pm.
Stop by for great products and service at CJ’s Auto Sound, nestled in the little community of Hauser.
| When I asked Chuck what he wants people to know about his business, he
replied, “we try to sell good quality at a low price. Our products
include JVC, Kenwood, and we do a lot of power based speakers and amps.
If there’s something that a customer wants that we don’t carry, we can
get most anything they need. Recently we’ve been doing a lot of
commercial UHF radios for the Bonneville Power Company fleet, but our
major customers are hunters and truckers who need a good CB radio. We
don’t do any repairs on the CBs but we still sell and install them, as
well as antennas. Most of the radios today are disposable and after
five years or so people get a new one.”
“many people think that after Winkler’s sold their business
that the store closed, but I bought his inventory and we’re
keeping the business open. I try to keep up with internet prices
and it’s important to keep business local because what’s
really important is service after the sale. We’ll take care of
you and you won’t have to send units back through the mail.”
“If units needs to be repaired,
we deal with a repair service in Eugene because the last audio video
repair shop in Coos Bay closed down recently, “ Chuck added.
So if you’re looking to get a
car audio system installed or need a new CB radio, Chuck wants you to
know that there’s more than one place locally that you can go
to! Stop by the quaint community of Hauser, where Ed will be
waiting to meet all your car audio and CB needs.
