Tri-County Plumbing
By Annette Langenstein, Staff Writer

Driving along Newmark Avenue towards the beaches, you may have noticed a brand-new building on the corner of Newmark and Norman Avenue in Coos Bay. Tri-County Plumbing, originally located at 1195 Newmark Avenue near the “Y Intersection”, has recently opened their huge showroom and retail store at 1581 Newmark Avenue. They have products to fit any budget from economical to high-end plumbing products and everything in between!

I visited with Manager Ross Baseler, who told me that Tri-County Plumbing was originally started over 35 years ago by Cliff and Elaine Plummer, and it’s now owned by their son Wes. His sister, Brandie Cooksey, serves as secretary/manager, and they have a crew of 18 people who really know a lot about what they’re doing!

Tri-County Plumbing has recently opened their huge showroom and retail store at 1581 Newmark Avenue.

The 3600 square foot showroom and retail store actually opened last November. “We did a lot of the work on the new facility ourselves, so it was kind of an ‘as-we-have-time’ thing, and because we’re always so busy it took a couple of years to build the place from start to finish,” explained Ross. “We offer Delta, Moen, American Standard, Peerless and Kohler products as well as Toto, Gerber, Mansfield & Grohe. We steer clear of the cheap imported “no-name” stuff because it’s tough to replace parts and they’re just not as reliable as name-brand products.”

I asked Ross to describe what they sell the most of. “That’s probably the retail and repair parts,” he said.  “There’s a lot of remodeling going on around here. A lot of  kitchen sinks and faucets are being upgraded. We probably do more residential work than commercial jobs.  We did almost all the plumbing in the Empire housing subdivision that was recently built.  It’s a section of really nice, newer homes that are probably all less than five years old. We also install and repair septic systems. And then of course we’re always on hand here in the retail store if people need help with those do-it-yourself projects.”

Even though the showroom and its grounds are brand-new and very attractive, Ross says that people “still drive by and don’t realize we’re a store that’s open to the public.”

Looking for the latest information on plumbing requirements before you begin that big project? Look no further than Tri-County Plumbing! “You know, the code requirements for new installation of water heaters is changing this month. They’re increasing the efficiency rating and putting a lot more insulation in them, so if you’re replacing a water heater or building a new house, then it has to meet the new code. All the old water heaters that don’t qualify will be unavailable as soon as we sell out of the stock we have,” said Ross.

So what would Ross like Shopper readers to know about their new store and showroom? “We’ve basically just got a lot more choices available for people, and they can see tons of products displayed. We have quite a number of guys working here with some great experience to help people fix things themselves. We can pretty much answer any questions that people have,” he said.

Tri-County Plumbing is located at 1581 Newmark Avenue in Coos Bay, where they’re open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5:30 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 3 pm. Give them a call at 541-888-4532 and find out more about what they have to offer in their beautiful new retail store & showroom!
