Confluence 2018 - Wine, Beer, & Music Festival

​The Reedsport / Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce is hosting Confluence 2018; a wine, beer and music festival in Reedsport, Oregon. The festival will take place at the Community Center located at 451 Winchester Avenue. The festivities will kick off on Friday, February 16th, at 4:00 p.m. concluding at 10:30 p.m.  Saturday, February 17th, the fun begins again at noon and ends at 10:00 p.m.     

Participating breweries this year include Atlas, Defeat River, Deluxe, Ecliptic, Good Life, Mazama, McKenzie, Ninkasi, Ordnance, Sam Bonds and Three Creek. Wineries pouring at this year’s event will be HV Cellars and River’s Edge. Food is being served by Harbor Light Restaurant and Double D’s On The Rocks, offering a wide variety for all tastes. 

Friday, you can enjoy the music of Timberwolf from 6:00 to 8:00 and Candy Apple Bleu from 8:30 to 10:30.  Saturday the music starts at noon with Stillwater playing until 2:00. Soulpie will be playing from 2:30 to 4:30. Hot Wax plays from 5:00 to 7:00. The final act of the weekend is Gold Dust, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band playing from 7:30 – 10:00. Aside from the delicious, locally made, libations and a great line-up, over a dozen vendors will be in attendance for some fun and unique shopping.

Admission for Friday is $10.00 and admission for Saturday is $12.00. If you would like to enjoy both days, weekend passes are available for $18.00. With your paid admission you will receive five tasting tokens, each one good for a sampling of beer or wine of your choosing.  With a weekend pass, you will receive ten tasting tokens. 

A complimentary shuttle will be running during the event. There are three pick-up locations in Reedsport and Winchester Bay. The bus will be picking up at Winchester Bay RV Resort, Umpqua Bank parking lot and the McKay’s parking lot. Winchester Bay RV Resort is running a special. If you purchase one night of camping and a full weekend pass for Confluence, you will receive a second night of camping for free.

Southern Gospel Concert

The CORNERSTONE Church  is hosting a Southern Gospel Concert with the Tim Walters Gospel Singers on February 18th at 10:30 am at 886 S. 4th Street in Coos Bay.  Tim and Peggy Walters have shared their up-beat blend of Southern Gospel and Country-style of music for over 21 years to groups of all ages and will bring a smile to your face together with giving you a lift for your day.   The Gospel concert is open to the public and a free-will offering will be received.

The CORNERSTONE Church is a newly formed church that is meeting in Coos Bay Senior Center auditorium and is part of the world-wide Church of The Nazarene.   CORNERSTONE was recently started to meet the desire of a growing number of people to have the opportunity to worship together using the traditional hymns and choruses.  Pastor Ron Halvorson, the founding pastor,  says they are committed  to providing a setting where traditional music and the worship of God blend together at a volume that is acceptable to the ear and the heart, while being evangelistic in sharing Jesus to the community.  


Free Traditional Dance Class Offered in North Bend

The South Coast Folk Society welcomes public participation in its new free traditional dance class for beginners. This class meets every Monday for two hours starting at 7:00PM. The North Bend Housing Authority has provided their spacious meeting room for this free weekly class. They are located at 1700 Monroe Street in North Bend. Singles, couples and families will enjoy this light-hearted social gathering. Drop-ins are always welcome at every class.

This is a beginner’s level class. No previous dance experience is required. All ages and abilities can have fun dancing to live music provided by area musicians. The emphasis will be on traditional dances from America and around the world. These include squares and circles, line dances and set dances, folk and ballroom dances. Many of the dances will be accompanied by live music, and musicians are invited to join in. All dances will be taught, and no partner is needed. The North Bend Housing Authority is a smoke and fragrance free venue. Children must be accompanied by a responsible supervising adult. Light refreshments will be available.
