Museum of Natural and Cultural History Brings a New Exhibit to the North Bend Public Library

The North Bend Public Library is thrilled to partner with the Museum of Natural and Cultural History for an interactive exhibit, Native Innovation.

This exhibit recognizes and celebrates the engineering innovations designed and used by First Nations in Oregon. It explores how Native Americans have used knowledge, creativity, and ingenuity to solve problems for thousands of years, and continue to do so today. The Exhibit uses STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) learning to engage whole families in a fun educational experience. Participants are invited to try their own hand at engineering, while learning from examples of traditional Indigenous technologies related to housing, travel, tools, recreation, resource management, and more, along with the current uses or applications of those innovations.

On Wednesday, November 13 at 6:00 PM, Patty Phillips of The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians (CTCLUSI) will share stories during Native Innovation in Stories.

Native Innovation will be displayed in the Children’s Room of the North Bend Public Library from Monday, November 3 through Saturday, November 29.

The Library would like to extend a special thank you to The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians (CTCLUSI) for partnering with us for this exhibit.
