Oregon Declares Sept. 22–26 National GEAR UP Week

Oregon GEAR UP Celebrates National GEAR UP Week, Highlighting College Access for Oregon Students  

Oregon — Oregon GEAR UP joins schools and communities across the country in celebrating National GEAR UP Week, 2025, from September 22-26, 2025, as officially proclaimed by the State of Oregon. National GEAR UP Week recognizes the achievements of the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) initiative, which helps students prepare for and succeed in education beyond high school.  

Since 1999, GEAR UP has empowered millions of students nationwide with academic, financial, and social support. In Oregon, GEAR UP has served over 40,000 7th-12th grade students in 109 schools in 48 communities Currently, Oregon GEAR UP supports middle and high school students in 10 rural communities across the state including: Bonanza, Gervais, Gilchrist, Mapleton, Pilot Rock, Prospect, Rockaway Beach, St. Helens, Toledo, and Waldport.

This year, Oregon GEAR UP schools will celebrate with various school wide activities, including career exploration, dress-up days, family nights and more, spotlighting student achievements, family engagement, and the partnerships that make college dreams possible.
