He is survived by his Mother, Misty & Spouse Brendon Thrash, Father Terry & Spouse Melissa Huffman, Siblings Tianna and Sammie Huffman, Erin Humbert, Mulligan, Erica, and Erik Thrash. Niece Lilly; Grandparents Tia and Ron Akers and Grandpa Leonard Huffman. John was preceded in death by his Grandmother Ollie Huffman, and Aunt Karleen Huffman-Green. Johnny made friends easily. He will be missed and remembered by many far and wide.
Johnny, nicknamed “Johnboy” in childhood (a name he tolerated), was a bright light in the lives of his family, friends, and everyone he met. Johnny always had a quick wit, a fearless spirit, and a love for speed—starting young with his go-cart, dirt bikes, fast cars, then eventually his motorcycle, and his Audi. In his words, “It’s not about the miles per gallon, it’s about the smiles per gallon.”John was a 2022 Graduate of Coquille High School and a proud member of the 2021 2A State Championship Football team. He was a loyal friend, a devoted son and brother, and a true prankster whose humor and laughter lit up every room he entered. His siblings will always wish they could be as cool as he was. He was a quick study at anything he set out to try, though he took any and every opportunity to try and get out of school. John tried a couple of different career paths after high school, first as an internet salesman, and then he cooked for the family Bar & Grill for a couple of years, showing his hidden talents and passion for making delicious food. Most recently, he had been in the process of joining the United States Air Force, where he was excited to travel the world, serve his country, and further his education. Johnny had aspirations to work in finance and make a fortune. He was eager to see what lay ahead and carried with him the drive and determination that defined his life.
Friends and family are invited to come together to honor his life, share memories, and carry forward his adventurous spirit at a “Celebration of Life” on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Coquille Community Building Large Auditorium. 105 North Birch St, Coquille, Oregon 97423.
