The Langlois Lions Club is hosting the now-named Mary McLeod Chili Feed and Dessert Auction on Saturday, March 28 from 5 pm to 7 pm, with the dessert auction at 6 pm sharp. Future chili feeds will continue to be held in honor of Mary. She was a true pioneer, raising a family and working hard on the Langlois Mountain ranch. She enjoyed county fairs, baking apple pies and Langlois Lions events. Mary passed away several weeks ago, just four months shy of her 100th birthday.
The event will be held at the Lions Club, 48136 Floras Lake Loop. It is easy to find, only a few blocks off Hwy 101 just south of Langlois. Dinner includes a bowl of tasty chili and coleslaw, with a vegetarian option available. Coffee, tea, water and punch are included. The suggested donation is $10 per serving for adults and $5 for children under 10.
Proceeds will go toward Pacific High School scholarships. The dessert auction is often the most fun part of the evening, with everyone leaving happy, even if outbid. Our “Lions Den,” featuring high-quality second-hand goods, will also be open.
Community support for our fundraising events is greatly appreciated. We are honored to add Mary’s name to the festivities. She loved Lions Club activities, and we hope you will too. The neighborly tradition of bringing a favorite dessert continues, perhaps even a few apple pies this year.
If you cannot attend, desserts may still be dropped off at the Lions Club around 5 pm, and pick-up can be arranged.
