SWOCC Pathways Marine Life Event Featuring Planetarium

Explore the vast mysteries of the marine world at an all-ages event Friday, January 30 from 4:00-6:00pm at the Coos Bay Fire Department. SWOCC’s STEAM Pathways program staff and volunteers will facilitate hands-on stations and offer a special planetarium show, Into the Deep. In addition to seeing the planetarium show, participants will be able to see marine fossils with Dr. Win McLaughlin, create plankton-inspired crafts, experiment with hands-on chemistry with Dr. Derek Morelli, and more. The Coos Bay Fire Department Station # 1 is located at 450 Elrod in Coos Bay. The event, which is being coorganized with the Coos Bay Public Library and the Coos Bay Fire Department, is free, and open to the public; no pre-registration is required.

Into the Deep, the planetarium show, is a breathtaking journey of sea exploration originally created by Ogrefish FilmProductions, adapted and renarrated by Loch Ness Productions. It combines marine biology and underwater geology with a history of deepsea exploration. The show lasts 32 minutes and is geared towards kids and adults ages 8 and above.
