The Patty J. Barton Memorial Scholarship was established by the Zonta Club in 2018 after Patty’s passing from breast cancer. This scholarship program has an award of up to $20,000. The club works to raise funds annually which are matched by Jon Barton, Patty’s husband.

The Scholarship fund is administered by the Coos Bay Area Zonta Service Foundation.

This scholarship has been awarded six times since 2020: Nikki Wright of Coos Bay received the first scholarship in 2020, Jasmine Herrera of Coos Bay the second in 2021, Linda Robbins of Myrtle Point the third in 2022, Courtney Jeffs Coos Bay the fourth in 2023, Gina Podesta of Brookings the fifth in 2024, and Kyla Bailey-Wilson Coos Bay in 2025.
